Collage & Expressive Mixed Media Workshop

A hands-on collage workshop exploring colour, texture and composition. 10am – 4pm.

Discover the joy of intuitive layering, master mixed media processes, and find your unique creative voice through collage.

Hosted at my home in South Wales, a colourful, creative environment, this immersive one-day workshop opens up my personal studio practice to guide you through expressive mark making, print, and paper art.

This day is designed to remove pressure from the creative process, providing hands-on layering techniques, texture building, and composition guidance to help you create with confidence.

Unlock your creative confidence in a relaxed, home setting built entirely around a love for design and colour. As a full-time practicing artist, and with over 20 years of experience as a colour consultant - and a home featured in House Beautiful, Simple Things, 25 Beautiful Homes, and on BBC TV - I’m opening my doors for an immersive, one-day workshop (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM) dedicated to the art of collage and mixed media.

No professional art background required - just a curiosity to experiment, play with color, and enjoy the process.

The Core Focus

  • Creating Bespoke Papers & Textures: Learn the foundational mixed media techniques I use in my own art - including monoprinting, linocut, acrylic painting, and intuitive mark-making - to build a rich collection of custom patterned papers.

  • Composition, Form & Balance: Discover how simple shapes, negative space, and contrasting textures come together to create compelling focal points inspired by still life, interiors, and domestic surroundings.

  • Intuitive & Layered Creativity: Tap into a playful, process-led approach to making art where there are no 'mistakes,' allowing your personal aesthetic and signature marks to emerge naturally without the pressure of perfection.

  • Playful & Expressive Application: Create a finished Still Life to gift, frame or display at home.

Key Outcomes: What You Will Gain

  • A Toolkit of Techniques: Practical, repeatable methods for monoprinting, stamping, and painterly mark-making that you can easily continue using in your own space at home.

  • Visual Confidence: A looser, more spontaneous approach to art-making that helps eliminate perfectionism, creative block, and overthinking.

  • Eye for Composition: A clearer understanding of how to arrange shape, pattern, and color harmony to build dynamic, layered compositions.

  • Invigorated Creativity: A personal collection of hand-painted papers, completed collage pieces, and fresh ideas to fuel your ongoing creative practice.

  • A Reconnected Aesthetic: A deeper connection to your own unique visual style, signature marks, and creative instincts.

Who This Is For

This day is crafted for everyone - no artistic experience required. Of course I welcome fellow artists and creatives, but equally, anyone is welcome to enjoy and explore collage the way I do. Whether you are looking to integrate new texture into your existing practice, build confidence in abstracting shapes, or simply want a relaxing day dedicated to hands-on play, this workshop offers a supportive, low-pressure space to experiment and learn.

What’s Included

Tickets cost £125 per person and cover everything: all art materials, endless tea and fresh ground coffee, plus a lovely lunch to keep you fuelled. It’s the perfect, low-pressure space to play with print, paper and paper, experiment with composition, and discover the joy of creating without pressure in a friendly, inspiring home setting.

The full address will be provided upon booking. We are based in the Bridgend area of South Wales, with direct access from the M4.

We will provide an allergy questionnaire upon booking so your dietary requirements are met.
